Each element that appears in dreams has a concrete symbolism. As we said, dreams are metaphors that we have to interpret and that many times we don’t know how to do it. In general, each person uses the symbol in two very different ways: on the one hand universally, and on the other in a more personal way.
In the first instance, the universal symbol has to do with what an object (or in this case an animal) means as a general rule. In the case of animals, when they appear in dreams, they have to do in a general way with different instincts that people have when facing different situations.
For its part, the most personal face of dreams with animals, has to do with what the animal is for each person. That is, it is not the same for one person as for another. For example, would it be the same as a butcher had a dream with a horse that a woman or a rider did? If you think about it, it has nothing to do. The horse will mean one thing for the woman and a very different one for the butcher or for the rider.
To give another clear example, when insects appear in dreams and generate a lot of fear we would be speaking, in general, with phobias. However, people who dream of mosquitoes, giant flies, spiders or with the different animals that can go through their mind will have completely different contexts and their interpretation will vary greatly from one to another person. It can even vary in the same person, depending on everything that happens in a dream. The symbol, in short, must always be applied with dream therapy.
As we said, it is not the same to dream of a snake for one person than for another. Nor is the snake the same in the face of a specific life concept, than before a love relationship. As a general rule, the snake is a symbol of knowledge related to fear. Knowledge and fear have a very deep relationship: knowing is taking fear of life, because at the end of life there is always death. It is usually an initiatory dream, which brings us closer to a reality to which we have to adapt through intelligence.
But, generally, the snake has many meanings. It can have love and affective connotations or may have to do, as we said before, with knowledge. The snake has a repulsive appearance that scares us, but at the same time it helps us maintain temperance and overcome the tests and obstacles we have in life.
In general, the snake is a very customizable symbol. It has so many connotations that it is very difficult to set a universal meaning for everyone. Everything will depend on the dream you have, on the circumstances in which you are in life, to know the reasons why you have a dream experience with these reptiles.
